Class dismissed at Our Lady Queen of Heaven due to gas leak

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

Class was dismissed Wednesday at Our Lady of Queen of Heaven due to a natural gas leak.

The leak was discovered early in the morning in a new building that is under construction, according to the Office of Catholic Schools.

A natural gas line was reportedly hit by a backhoe.

Students are expected to return to class Thursday.

The students were moved to the nearby church, where they boarded buses or were picked up by their parents/guardians.
