NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A man is in the hospital after police say he was robbed and then shot by his attacker in north Nashville on Monday night.

The shooting happened at the Granstaff Apartments on Rosa Parks Boulevard around 10 p.m.

A neighbor called 911 after hearing a fight and a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a pool of blood and bullet casings in the parking lot, but couldn't find a victim or a potential shooter.

The victim showed up to the hospital with a gunshot wound in his leg a short time later.

He told police he was standing in the parking lot when a man came up to him, demanded cash and shot him. The shooter ran off with some money.

The victim's injuries are not said to be life threatening.

The shooter is described as a black man in his 40s. He was last seen wearing a black hat and brown jacket.
