BATON ROUGE, LA (KPLC) -

The McNeese Banners Cultural Series was among the winners announced by Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne for the 2014 Louisiana Culture Awards.

Dardenne and the Office of Cultural Development are set to officially recognize the winners at an awards ceremony on April 22 at the Capitol Park Museum in Baton Rouge.

Dr. Philip Williams, President of McNeese State University, praised the Banners program: "For more than two decades, Banners has delivered entertaining and unique arts and humanities programs to the citizens of Southwest Louisiana. This recognition highlights the priority that Lt. Governor Dardenne and his office place on the mission of higher education," said Williams in a news release.

Patricia Prudhomme, Director of Banners at McNeese State University, said, "It is a tremendous honor for Banners and McNeese State University to be recognized for our work in the community... We appreciate the Lt. Governor and the Louisiana Office of Cultural Development shining a spotlight on the efforts of our staff and volunteers."

Cultural District Award: Downtown Lafayette Cultural District.
Arts Education Award: Henry Price (Shreveport).
Arts Leadership Award: Kris Cangelosi (Baton Rouge).
Culinary Arts Award: Reconcile New Orleans.
Outstanding Arts Organization: McNeese Banners Cultural Series (Lake Charles).
Artist of the Year: Wayne Amedee (New Orleans).
Folklife Heritage Award: Goldman Thibodeaux (Opelousas).
Archaeologist of the Year: R. Christopher Goodwin & Associates (New Orleans).
Main Street Award: St. Claude Main Street (New Orleans).
Preservation Education Award: J. Randolph Harelson (New Roads).
Preservation Leadership Award: A.C. Bourdier (Lake Charles).
Preservation Heritage Award: Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans.
Preservationist of the Year: Jean Sayres (Shreveport).
Le Prix de la Franco-Responsabilité: Sen. Eric LaFleur (Ville Platte).
Lt. Governor's Passion for Culture Award: Sandi Kallenberg (Shreveport).
Lt. Governor's Passion for Culture Award: Kathe Hambrick (Donaldsonville).
George Rodrigue Lifetime Cultural Achievement Award: Sue Turner (Baton Rouge).

"Each honoree has made outstanding contributions to Louisiana's culture," said Dardenne's office in a news release. "Winners were selected by the Louisiana State Arts Council, Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation, Louisiana Archaeological Survey and Antiquities Commission, Louisiana Folklife Commission and Council for the Development of French in Louisiana from public nominations earlier this year."
