Single vehicle wreck critically injures Sulphur woman - KPLC 7 News, Lake Charles, Louisiana

Single vehicle wreck critically injures Sulphur woman

Good Evening,

Lee Peck in the KPLC 7 Newsroom with a look at what we are working on for Nightcast.

Former LSU linebacker and Sulphur native Tahj Jones remains hospitalized in serious condition. The man accused of shooting him, former LSU and NFL player Brandon Winey, remains jailed charged with attempted second degree murder.

Plus, a single vehicle wreck on Highway 90 in Sulphur critically injures a Sulphur woman. State Police are still investigating what led her car to run off the roadway and flip.

Also, the Charpentier District is home to some of the most beautiful and historic homes in Lake Charles and today six of them were open to the public. KPLC's Monica Grimaldo takes us on the Palm Sunday Tour of Homes.

And, a few weeks ago we told you about some dolphins in the Contraband Bayou. Tonight, a concerned resident and dolphin lover fears the dolphins are getting the help they need to find their way back to open water. KPLC's Haley Rush has this story.

Plus, the clouds moved in today. Meteorologist Zack Fradella has a look towards our work week.

We'll see you tonight at Ten for these stories and more. Until then, we're always on at kplctv.com.

Through the rest of today expect skies to remain partly cloudy.  Some of those clouds have gained enough energy from day time heating to produce a quick shower.  Any more that form through the rest of the afternoon will likely rain out quickly.  Unfortunately, this does not help our temperatures much as highs will get into the 90s and feels-like temperatures will be in the triple digits.  We do have a breeze between 10-15 mph helping to keep air flowing.

Louisiana Lifeline for K-9s held their Pretty Pitty Spa Day in DeRidder Saturday, an event that allows owners of female pit bulls to get them spayed for free. At the event, we met William, a boy who dedicated his fifth birthday to the cause.
