CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

Calcasieu Parish Public Library has partnered with Faith and Friends Food Pantry in the Food for Fines program.

The program is a food drive in which library patrons can bring non-perishable food items to any branch of the CPPL to get a coupon for $5 off any library fine. The program lasts through next Thursday.

"During the year, facilities see different donations. Donations drop off during the summer months. We're partnering with the Faith and Food group. We help get their supply up in the middle of the year," said Christy Duhon, Public Information Officer with the CPPL.

The coupon cannot be used for copies or printouts.

The Faith and Friends Food Pantry was established in 2000 and is the only organization of its type that serves the entire Calcasieu area.
