LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

A 48-year-old Lake Charles man went from a hospital room to a jail cell Tuesday after taking stolen prescription medication, city police said.

Deputy Chief Mark Kraus said Hayward J. Tezeno was arrested after he burglarized a delivery truck and then a home in the 600 block of MLK Boulevard.

Kraus said Tezeno took a mobile printer and a lunch box containing blood pressure medication from the delivery truck.

Tezeno was found passed out in the 2500 block of Elaine Street and transported to a local hospital, Kraus said.

"It is believed that Tezeno may have taken the blood pressure medicine, which caused his medical problem," Kraus said.

Tezeno was then released from the hospital and transported for booking.

"While Tezeno was being booked, we were dispatched in reference to a burglary of a residence on MLK Boulevard," Kraus said. "Upon arrival, we found evidence indicating the same suspect was responsible for both crimes."
