Beauregard Watermelon Festival set for June 26-28

DERIDDER, LA (KPLC) -

The Beauregard Watermelon Festival will be held June 26-28 at the Beauregard Parish Fairgrounds in DeRidder.

The festival will be held from 4-11 p.m. on Thursday, 4 p.m. to midnight on Friday and 10 a.m. to midnight on Saturday.

Activities will include watermelon seed spitting and eating contests, games, a beauty pageant, a car show, a livestock show and art and craft vendors.

Performances will be provided by Murray Conque, Kevin Naquin and the Ossun Playboys, the Bee Bop Girls, Grabow Riot, Waylon Thibodeaux and Gregg Martinez. A full lineup is available HERE.

    A local man received a phone call a week ago from a son he never knew about - and welcomed him with open arms. After years of searching, 23-year-old Devin Hutchinson says he's found his birth father. "I had that in the back of my mind ever since I was a kid," said Hutchinson. "My parents would say, 'You'll find him one day.' I looked all the time when I was a little kid."
