LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

A Lake Charles man was arrested late Saturday night after firing a gun outside the Lake Charles Civic Center, authorities said.

Two Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were driving near the Civic Center around 11 p.m. when they heard gun shots.

According to deputies, there was a disturbance in the parking lot, which led 23-year-old Joshua Wright to fire two shots into the air. However, witnesses claim only one shot was fired.

Commander James McGee said Wright threw the handgun in the lake and jumped in the water. McGee said Wright returned a short time later and was arrested.

No one was injured in the incident.

Wright has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, obstruction of justice and resisting an officer.

Lake Charles Police also assisted in the call.
