Tornado, Flash Flood Watches in effect

SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA (KPLC) -

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Tornado Watch effective until 11 p.m. this evening for the entire viewing area. This includes the parishes of Vernon, Beauregard, Allen, Calcasieu, Jeff Davis, Acadia, Cameron, Vermilion, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, and St. Mary.

A line of storms capable of producing severe weather is approaching Southwest Louisiana from Texas. This line will continue to move into the area by this evening and will pose a threat to produce damaging winds, large hail, and a few isolated tornadoes.

The National Weather Service has also issued a Flash Flood Watch for portions of the area through Monday morning. This watch includes the parishes of Acadia, Allen, Evangeline, Jeff Davis, Vermilion, St. Mary, Iberia, St. Martin, Lafayette, and St. Landry. This watch does not include Cameron, Calcasieu, Beauregard, or Vernon.

Rainfall totals of 1 to 3" are likely with some isolated amounts up to 5".
