Statewide disaster drill testing hurricane response plan

Good Afternoon,

Lee Peck in the KPLC 7 Newsroom with a look at what we are working on today.

First responders from across the state exercised their disaster response capabilities in the event a hurricane should come our way. KPLC's Haley Rush was there as they put their plan to the test.

It's also an election day. We'll have a preview of the big items on the ballot and start airing results when the polls close at 8 p.m.

The "Dirtiest Party in Town" certainly lived up to its name. We were there as participants scaled walls, hurtled mud holes and raced to the finish line at the 3rd Annual ReAlliety Challenge.

Plus, little girls from all over got a chance to meet professional surfer Bethany Hamilton, whose inspiring story was made into the movie "Soul Surfer." KPLC's Monica Grimaldo has this story from MaciFest.

And, men marched through the Prien Lake Mall in high heels to stop sexual violence against women. It was definitely a sight to see at the "Walk a Mile Her Shoes" event.

Also, we could be in for some more heavy storms overnight and into tomorrow. Meteorologist Zack Fradella has your forecast.

We'll have these stories and more tonight on 7 News at Six. Until then, we're always on at kplctv.com.
