Large tree falls on west Jackson house

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Friday morning's thunderstorms caused a large tree to come crashing down onto a house in west Jackson. It happened around 7:30 at 159 Strafford Street, which is not too far from Mynelle Gardens.

The huge tree covered the back half of the house. When our crew arrived, a man was using a chainsaw to cut up and remove the tree.

Homeowner Jimmy White said he was caught by surprise.

"I thought it was a tornado coming through and I got down on my knees and said 'Lord, what's going on?'" said White. "It remind me of the last hailstorm we had. It caught me. I wasn't ready for it."

The tree fell from his neighbor's yard.
