LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) -

Accidents, a stalled vehicle and construction caused a major headache for drivers in the Lake Charles area Friday afternoon.

An accident on Interstate 10 westbound near the Lakeshore Drive exit was reported at 5:30 p.m. City police said drivers should avoid the area for at least one hour.

A stalled vehicle was seen blocking one of the westbound lanes near the base of the Interstate 10 Bridge around 5 p.m.

At 5:05 p.m., multiple KPLC viewers reported an accident on Interstate 10 eastbound near the PPG Drive exit.

Things were not much better on Interstate 210 as traffic was backed up due to construction. I-210, from the bridge to the Nelson Road exit, is down to one lane in both directions as crews work on the Cove Lane Interchange. The lane closures are expected to last another two to three weeks.
