HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The Pine Belt Master Gardeners held their annual Spring Garden Day Friday at the Forrest County Extension auditorium.

About 150 gardening enthusiasts were on hand to hear from four speakers talk about subjects like how to build a water garden, how to do a container garden, how air plants work, and how to take better care of your garden. Several vendors were on hand selling a variety of plants and soil supplements.

The master gardeners are a volunteer organization of the Mississippi State Extension Service.

"We put out information that Mississippi State provides us and this is done through tried and true methods," said Paul Cavanaugh, President PBMG.

Cavanaugh says this with the warm weather setting in this is an ideal time to begin spring planting.
