The following summer camps have been announced for 2014 in Southwest
Louisiana:
Lake Charles:
Cheer camps: Several sessions will be offered Mondays-Thursdays at
Lake Charles Cheer Training, located at 612 Bennett Road. For more information,

Summer Day Camp: Mondays-Fridays at St. Luke-Simpson United Methodist
Church, located at 1500 Country Club Road. Activities are open to children in
grades K-5 and will include field trips and themed days. Space is limited, and

Horsemanship camp: June 9-12, 16-19, 23-26, July 7-10, 14-18, 21-24
and August 4-7 at Stables at Le Bocage. Children ages 5 and up will
learn how to ride, groom and tack horses. Beginner, intermediate and advanced

5-day summer camps: Monday-Friday on June 2-6, 9-13, 16-20, 23-27,
July 1-3, 7-11, 14-18, 21-25, 28-August 1 and August 4-8 from 10 a.m. to 2:30
p.m. at Club Tabby, located at 1427 W. Prien Lake Road. Camps are open to ages
4-12 and are $100 for the week, with the exception of July 1-3, which is $60.

Education Day Camp at Kids College/McNeese Teens: May
27-August 9 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The camps are open to students in grades 2-7.
Subject areas will include science, art, dance, golf, tennis, writing,
folklore, magic, music, computer skills, sewing and photography. Registration
is $40 plus weekly/monthly fees, which includes a camp t-shirt. For more

Adventures in Nature: June 2-6 from 9 a.m.-3p.m. at Tuten Park,
located at 3801 Nelson Road. Nature-themed activities will include gardening,
hiking, studying insects, crafts. The camp is $60, with May 12 set as the

Junior Putt-putt Clinic: June 2-6 from 9 a.m. to noon at Putt Putt
Fun Center, located at 620 Petro Point Drive. Activites are $7.50 a day or $25
for the week and are open to children ages 8-18. Children can be dropped off as
early as 8 a.m. Lunch will be served. On June 6, there will be a tournament and

Young Band Nation Camp: June 2-6 at Central School, located at 809
Kirby St. The Arts and Humanities Council of SWLA and Baton Rouge Music Studios

Camp Invention: June 9-13 at Dolby Elementary School, located at 817
Jefferson Dr. This year's theme is "Morphed!". Activities are open to
students in grades 1-6 and will include hands-on problem solving, building
original prototypes, creating a personalized motor-powered vehicle, and
disassembling electronics to build an insect-themed pinball machine. The camp
is supported by the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the National

"Shakespeare Workshop": July 21-25 from 10-11:15 a.m. for

Region V LACUE Tech Camp 2014: July 21-25 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
each day at the CPSB Technology Training Center, located at 1724 Kirkman
Street. The camp is open to all region V students entering grades 3–10 next school
year. This year's theme is "Get Connected!". Participants will
receive Dell Inspiron 11 touch screen laptops with webcams. Projects will
include video and audio podcasts, graphic design and video production. Tuition
is $500 per child, which includes the laptop, a daily snack, activities and

"Kids in Showbiz": July 28-August 1 from 10-11:15 a.m. for

Kicker Kutie Camp: July 28-August 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the
McNeese Recreational Complex. The dance camp is open to girls in grades K-6. Participants
will practice jazz, hip-hop, and pom fances, tumbling, pageant modeling,

French courses: L'Alliance Française de Lafayette will hold the
following courses: French 101, French 102, French 103, Conversational French

Leblanc:
Beau Camp 2014: June 29-July 4, overnight camp at Uskichitto Retreat
Center, located at 590 Retreat Road in Leblanc, La. Traditional camp activities
will be offered in addition to a ROPES course and a rock wall. The fee is $125

Moss Bluff:
Moss Bluff Elevate Soccer Camp: June 9-13 and 16-20. Sessions are
available for players ages 4-14. Topics will include ball-control, passing,

Kids Week VBS Celebration: July 21-26 from 9 a.m. to noon at First
