Lafayette Police make arrest in February shooting

Lafayette Police have made an arrest following the February 22 shooting that took place in the 100 block of Royal.

According to authorities, 30-year-old Douglas Dugas of Lafayette was arrested Monday by the U.S. Marshals Violent Offenders Task Force. Dugas is charged with attempted first degree murder. His bond has been set at $250,000.

Witnesses say that the suspect drove by the victim's house and fired multiple shots with a pistol at the home. A 22-year-old male was struck once in the back and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The victim was later released.

The suspect was identified as Dugas, and a warrant for his arrest was issued on March 24.

The investigation continues.

    A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting in DeQuincy, according to DeQuincy Police Chief Tom Threet.  Threet says the shooting took place on Bruce Street.
