LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

One stretch of Sale Road will remain closed a little longer than expected.

According to DOTD officials, Sale Road from Holly Hill Road to Timberlawn Drive will be shuttered at least until June.

Phase I of the Sale Road Project began in late October and was expected to be finished in March.

Officials say that inclement weather and several conflicts led them to push back the completion date.

The entire project will cost roughly $5 million and is funded by the state.

Phase I includes the addition of a turning lane on Sale Road and the construction of a taller, longer bridge between Holly Hill and Timberlawn.

Phase II will include the widening of Sale Road from two lanes to three lanes in the area between Timberlawn and Canal Street.

The original completion date for Phase II was November of this year. That date is likely to be pushed back as well.
