The following Easter events have been announced for Southwest Louisiana:

Lake Charles:

Easter Egg Hunt: April 18 at 10 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park in Lake Charles, near the Lake Charles Civic Center. Admission is free.  

Lake Area Easter Festival: April 19 from 10 a.m. to noon at Trinity Baptist Church, located at 1800 Country Club Road. Admission is free. For more information or to register, call the church at 337-480-1555.


Easter Egg Hunt: April 17 at 6 p.m. at West Park. Preschool students will be at the park entrance by Ryan's, K-1st grade students will be at the tennis courts, and 2nd-3rd grade students will be at the pavilion. The Mayor's Youth Council is sponsoring the event.


Outdoor movie: April 18 at 8 p.m. at Hodges Gardens State Park. The film "Hop" will be shown.

Hodges Gardens State Park Easter activities: April 19 beginning at 1 p.m. There will be an Easter egg hunt for children ages 9 and under and a geocache hunt for children ages 10 and up.

Easter sunrise service: April 20 at 6 a.m. at the lakefront stage at Hodges Gardens State Park. The Cetenary choir will be joined by local choirs. Gates open at 4:30 a.m. and close at 5:45 a.m. for those attending the service. The service is open to the public and is free to attend. Those who stay in the park following the service will be required to pay regular admission fees.


3rd Annual Easter in the Park: April 19 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Iowa City Park. Admission is free. Egg hunts will be held at 10:30 a.m. for ages 0-3, 10:45 a.m. for ages 4-6 and 11 a.m. for ages 7 and up. Other activities include pictures with the Easter Bunny, Easter games and coloring stations. Children should bring Easter baskets and must be accompanied by an adult. The Iowa Women's League is hosting the event.


Easter Egg Drop Eggstravaganza: April 19 at 10 a.m. at Our Savior's Church. For children ages 12 and under, there will be an egg drop in which thousands of plastic eggs will be dropped from a helicopter at 11 a.m. Admission is free. Activities will feature inflatables, train rides, face painting, horse rides, a dunking booth and more. Attendees are encouraged to pre-register at http://oscjennings.com/.


Eggs & Arts: April 19 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lafayette Farmers and Artisans Market at the Horse Farm. An egg hunt will be held at 9:30 a.m., followed by cooking demonstrations at 10:30 a.m. by Chef Manny Augello and poultry presentations at 11:30 a.m. by local 4-H students. The LSU AgCenter will host an interactive egg-education booth at the event, complete with live chickens, natural egg dying displays, and nutritional information. BeauSoleil with Micheal Doucet and Chad Huval will perform from 9-11 a.m.

13th Annual Easter Egg Hunt: April 19 at Thomas Park at 10 a.m. The event will feature games, prizes and refreshments. The Lafayette Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the event. For more information, call 291-8370 or 291-5553.


Egg-straviganza: April 19 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Victory Worship Center, located at 1410 W. Napoleon St. in Sulphur. The event will feature and egg hunt for children up to fifth grade as well as food and games.
