Over the last couple of weeks someone has been circulating so-called BP oil claim forms in the Lake Charles area. While man, if not most medical claims associated with the Deepwater Horizon oil spill have been settled, someone is holding meetings around the Lake area trying to get people to sign up. But they're not too forthcoming when it comes to saying who they are or who they represent. Last week there were crowds at Miss Street Church of Christ during various times of the day."People ther...More >>

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

Good morning!

Agnes DeRouen in the KPLC 7 Newsroom with a look at what we're working on for 7News at Noon.

The second degree murder trial of David Fontenot is now underway in Lake Charles. He's accused of killing Stephin Bergeron in 2011. Prosecutors claim he shot Bergeron to death on La. 27 in Carlyss.  KPLC's Theresa Schmidt is in court and will have our update at noon. You can also read more about the case HERE.

Funeral arrangements have been made for a 3-year-old boy who died following a dental procedure in Lake Charles recently. We'll have that story for you at noon, and you can also get more info HERE.

Jeff Davis Parish students and employees can expect to pay more to eat breakfast and lunch at schools there this fall. At noon, more on the exact amounts and why the school board voted for the increase.

Also today, a school system uses a new tool to help parents wanting to track what their children are eating in school. It's a new "app" that lets them see exactly what's being served on that lunch tray.

Plus, spring can provide a great opportunity to get saving and spending back on track for the remainder of the year. We'll have advice for adding order to your finances.

Ben tells me it should be a pretty nice day weather-wise with lots of sunshine and temperatures into the upper 60s.  It will get chilly tonight – probably into the upper 30's to around 40. Tomorrow we'll see more clouds – what will that mean for our rain chances?

Check out Ben's live, local weather at noon for the answer.

Remember, you can always watch us online www.kplctv.com and on air. We hope you join us, and have a great day !
