LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

Jurors in the trial of David "Dice" Fontenot on Tuesday heard the 911 call made immediately after Stephin Bergeron was shot on April 13, 2011.

The 911 call was made by Chance Bourgeois, who was walking with Bergeron on La. 27 near Carlyss, when shots were fired from a passing truck.

Bourgeois was hysterical as he recognized that his friend was severely injured and pleaded for an ambulance fast. Bergeron soon died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Prosecutors claim Fontenot fired those shots. He is on trial on charges of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.

Prosecutor Rick Bryant showed jurors photos of numerous spent rounds recovered from the side of the road where Bergeron was shot.

In opening statements Bryant said the state will prove Fontenot is guilty. Defense attorney Robert Shelton told jurors the bottom line is "who is the shooter" and urged them to pay attention to all of the evidence.

Initially, Devin Badon was indicted on a murder charge along with Fontenot. Badon pleaded guilty to negligent homicide and has already completed his sentence.

The trial is expected to wrap in two to three days.

If Fontenot is convicted of second-degree murder he will receive mandatory life in prison.
