FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, MI (Toledo News Now) -

The Coast Guard air station in Detroit joined together with an ice rescue team from the Toledo station to save a man stranded on Lake Erie, off of Frenchtown Township around 2:30 Saturday morning.

The man was able to make contact with the crews by using his cell phone.

The crews used the GPS signal from the phone to find his exact location.

He was safely hoisted into the helicopter and transported to a hospital for treatment.

The man's name is not being released at this time.
