LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

There are still issues to work out when it comes to the construction of boathouses along the Lake Charles Lakefront.

There has been a moratorium for the past four months on any new construction of boathouses and piers along the lakefront. During this time a committee of residents and stakeholders has been meeting to try and come up with guidelines for size and construction standards.

So far they've met twice, but Councilman John Ieyoub says they need more time.

"We are still debating on some issues. It's a very complicated subject. So we have the opinion of the attorney general and so we are working through those issues as well as with the planning and zoning on some other stuff," said Ieyoub.

The council agreed to extend the moratorium for up to 90 days.
