SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) -

Authorities are looking for a man who stole a purse from a Lake Charles woman while she was in the parking lot of a Sulphur business on Feb. 19.

Sulphur Police Chief Lewis Coats said the victim said the suspect approached her, asked several questions and grabbed her purse before fleeing in a green passenger van. The suspect got away with a large sum of cash.

"The van could not be identified positively, but it appears to resemble a Chevrolet Venture," Coats said. "The suspect likely followed the victim from Lake Charles and fled in the same direction."

Coats said the suspect has been described as a young black male with a slender build and a clean-shaven face.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sulphur Police 337-527-4550.

A cash reward is offered for the arrest and indictment in this case, Coats said.
