Firefighters respond to fire on Division Street

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

Lake Charles firefighters responded to a fire at a duplex at 707 Division St. in Lake Charles on Wednesday.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries reported.

Firefighters received a call around 12:05 p.m. and had the fire out by 12:45 p.m.

Chief of Fire Prevention Wayne Rigmaiden said it would take some time to determine the cause of the blaze.

Rigmaiden said the home is likely a total loss.

    A liquified natural gas export terminal to be built at the Port of Lake Charles is a step closer to reality. At Monday's port meeting, the board of directors approved the signing of  a 30-year ground lease with Magnolia LNG. Board members said it's a positive sign that Magnolia LNG is willing to take the next step - from lease option to actual lease. Construction on the Magnolia facility is expected to begin later this year, bringing 100 construction jobs and 70 permanent jobs ...
