CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

In an effort to prevent the spread of rabies infection in Calcasieu Parish, the Office of Animal Services will be offering two drive-thru rabies clinics in April.

The first clinic was set for Saturday, April 12 at the West Cal Arena in Sulphur. The second clinic is set for 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 26 at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles.

According to Louisiana State Code, all dogs and cats over the age of three months are required to be vaccinated for rabies and licensed.

The cost of the vaccination and licensing will be $8 for spayed/neutered animals and $10 for unaltered pets. Cats must be in a portable kennel.

Micro-chipping will also be available.

For more information, call Calcasieu Parish Animal Services and Adoption Center at 721-3730.
