LAKE CHARLES, LA -

A 37-year-old Sulphur man pleaded guilty Monday to cruelty to juveniles.

Jason Norman Nazworth, who was arrested in April, will be sentenced May 7.

According to the Associated Press, Nazworth faced two counts of cruelty to juveniles and two counts of second-degree cruelty to juveniles.

Prosecutor Shunette Thomas-Jordan said the abuse happened between September 2012 and April 2013.

Nazworth was accused of burning a young family member's hand by putting it on a heater, splitting the child's lip and bruising the child's hands and feet. Nazworth threatened another young family member with a knife and bruised that child's feet, Thomas-Jordan said.
