    Several witnesses told us they heard what they thought were gunshots just before 9 o'clock. Shortly after, several Super 8 Hotel guests were told to evacuate. At least one person was taken away by ambulance, according to witnesses. There is no word on their injuries. More >>

SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA (KPLC) -

A 43-year-old Lake Charles man has been charged with third-offense DWI, careless operation, driving with a suspended license and first-offense illegal carrying of weapons.

According to records from the Calcasieu Correction Center, John Fitzgerald Eagins was arrested late Friday night while driving on Goos Boulevard in Lake Charles.

Eagins was released Sunday morning after posting a $13,500 bond.

 

Arrest Reports

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office reported the following arrests:

• Christopher Owen Amrine, 27, Iowa: drug possession with intent to distribute, weapons charge, possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond: $50,000.

• Raleigh James Reeves, 44, Lake Charles: simple burglary. Bond: $35,000.

• Peyton Phillip Porche, 17, Kinder: motor vehicle theft. Bond: $20,000.

• Damien Parrish Barfield, 38, Lake Charles: domestic abuse battery. Bond: $15,000.

• Henry James Chretien, 22, Lake Charles: two counts of drug possession, marijuana possession, introducing contraband into a penal institution. Bond: $15,000.

• Gabrial Michael Plummer, 34, Lake Charles: aggravated assault, simple criminal damage to property $500 to $50,000. Bond: $12,500.

• Karrington Kahlil Henry, 18, Lake Charles: drug possession with intent to distribute, first-offense marijuana possession, obstruction of justice. Bond: $11,500.

• Kenneth J. Bryant, 23, Lake Charles: two counts of marijuana possession with intent to distribute, two counts of possession of stolen firearms, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal carrying of weapons in presence of drugs or during commission of a crime. Bond: $10,500.

• John Curtis Malbrew Jr., 44, Lake Charles: simple battery, unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. Bond: $10,000.
