TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A second big name restaurant has closed it's doors at the Tucson mall in the last year.

Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill has a "closed" sign posted on the door.  A sign posted on a window said all contents inside the restaurant would be seized by the mall's parent company General Growth Properties "until the outstanding rent is paid in full."

The national restaurant chain Brio Tuscan Grille closed it's doors and left the Tucson Mall area last March.  A corporate spokeswoman said this was the first time the company had closed a Brio location.

Officials said sales never met corporate expectations, that is why they had to close the doors.

CJ Urban a former manager at Toby Keith's restaurant said they got word on Friday that the restaurant would be closing.  Many employees were upset.

The Tucson Mall released this statement to Tucson News Now on Monday morning:

"While we never like to see a tenant leave, we're always actively looking for the best retailers, restaurants and entertainment venues to enhance the shopping experience at Tucson Mall. Stellar retailers, entertainment venues/events and great restaurants attract visitors to our center.  We are unable to comment on specifics regarding Toby Keith's lease, but we are looking forward to announcing new restaurants and retailers in the near future."

Another employee who lost his job as a result of the restaurant closure said, the owners of the restaurant were often late in paying contractors.  He asked us not to reveal his identity.  The former employee told Tucson News Now, the company had been late in paying cleaning contractors, and mesquite wood contractors in the past.

Tucson News Now left several messages with the restaurant owners at Scottsdale based Boomtown Entertainment LLC.  Officials did not return our calls for a comment.

Urban said about 50-60 employees are now out of a job.
