Throughout the public and independent school ranks, Tift County was the only boys team to win a high school state championship. They are grateful for the honor.
"That's big, it's big for the South, big for Tift County," said senior guard Tadric Jackson. "We got it done."
Head coach Eric Holland saw the seniors on this team since they were in middle school. He says during that time, he told the group that they could be the ones to earn the school's next state title.
"It's means everything to do it with these kids," said head coach Eric Holland. "How fitting that this group in 2014 wins a state title."
Senior D.J. Bryant tallied 22 points in the title game. For him, there was no better way to close his high school career.
"Perfect way to go out," Bryant said. "Perfect way."
This was Tift County's second state title.
