RAYNE, LA (KPLC) -

Three suspects have been arrested on drug and weapon charges, according to the Rayne Police Department.

According to Chief Carroll Stelly, officers conducted a traffic stop on February 24. During the stop, officers detected the scent of marijuana. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of about 4.1 ounces of marijuana and a stolen firearm with an obliterated serial number, as well as over $1,300.

The items were seized as evidence, and three individuals were arrested. Investigators say they believe the currency that was found is the result of a drug transaction.

Markris Riley, 22, Casey Carter, 20, and Trayvon Hurt, 19, all of Jennings, were arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of a Firearm with obliterated serial number, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Illegal Possession of a Firearm with Controlled Dangerous Substance.

All three suspects were booked into the Acadia Parish Jail without incident.
