Turner Co. has basketball fever

ASHBURN, GA (WALB) -

Turner County is buzzing with excitement as their boy's basketball team heads to the state championship game.

The Rebels are taking on Wilkinson County in the Single A State Basketball Championship at the Macon Coliseum.

Turner County high school students were released at 1:30 Thursday so they could make it up there for the big game.

"It's kind of energized the community, obviously the school as well.  We're just very humbled to be able to go up and play against a really good team, but we're good too or we would be here," said Howard Akres, Principal.

A student-only fan bus left the school this afternoon.

We'll have highlights from the game tonight on WALB News 10 at 11.
