LAKE ARTHUR, LA (KPLC) -

The death of 27-year-old Lacie Fontenot has been ruled a drowning as a result of hypothermia.

Fontenot's body was found Jan. 31 in a shallow ditch near the intersection of West 6th and Commercial streets in Lake Arthur.

The autopsy report released Wednesday by the Calcasieu Parish Coroner's Office suggested that Fontenot died Jan. 28. The report said there was no evidence of significant injuries to Fontenot's body and elevated levels of cocaine and methamphetamine were found in her system.

Lake Arthur Police Chief Cheryl Vincent said there were no signs of a struggle, Fontenot's body showed no signs of injuries and none of the witnesses interviewed saw or heard anything unusual or suspicious leading up to the discovery of the body.

"The investigators determined Fontenot was not transported from another location, she died at the scene," Vincent said.
