Grafton mayor guilty of drunk driving and failure to stop

ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) -

Grafton Mayor Megan Flanigan appeared in Elyria Muni Court Tuesday morning and pled no contest to ovi and failure to stop and not guilty to failure to control and possession of drugs.

Retired Judge Elizabeth Wakefield, who was appointed as a visiting judge in this case, then found Flanigan guilty of ovi and failure to stop and immediately sentenced her.

Judge Wakefield imposed a $1000 fine with $350 suspended for the ovi charge and 30 days in jail with 27 days suspended. Instead of three days in jail, Flanigan will attend a 72 hour driver intervention class.

On the failure to stop charge, Flanigan was also given a fine and a 30 day suspended jail sentence.

Flanigan must also obtain a substance abuse recommendation.
 
The Grafton Mayor Was arrested for drunk driving back in September.

A misdemeanor drug possession charge was filed in connection with that dui after the deputy who transported her found a pill in the back of his cruiser.
