Nine arrested by State Police following online sting

Lafayette, LA (KPLC) -

Nine people have been arrested following an undercover investigation in the Lafayette area by the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit into alleged human sex trafficking and online solicitation of minors.

The operation lasted from February 28 to March 1 and focused on sexual exploitation of children, prostitution and human trafficking.

"During the operation, Detectives worked in various undercover capacities through online networking web sites. They were able to identify nine people who requested to meet adults and/or children for various sexual purposes. In all of the cases the suspects offered money for sex from the undercover detectives," said state police in a news release.

Arrested were:

Charlotte Berthelot, 37, of Lafayette, charged with Prostitution.

Stewart Michael Brown, 29, of Lafayette, charged with Computer Aided Solicitation of a Minor, Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile and Prostitution.

Fallon L. Childress, 28, of Lafayette, charged with Prostitution.

Desrelle Lastrapes, 23, of Lafayette, charged with Prostitution and wanted on a narcotics arrest warrant from Texas.

Jody Lee, 28, of Lafayette, charged with Prostitution.

Shante Monique McClain, 23, of Oklahoma City, Oak., charged with Prostitution.

Joseph J. Ventress, 26, of Lafayette, charged with Pandering and Possession with the intent to distribute Crack Cocaine.

Carl F. White, Jr., 32, of Lafayette, charged with Promoting Prostitution.

Liwei Zhao, 24, of Lafayette, charged with Computer Aided Solicitation of a Minora and Prostitution.

Assisting in the investigation were the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Homeland Security Investigations and Lafayette Metro Narcotics.   

Louisiana State Police continue to work with local, state and federal law enforcement to investigate the commercial sexual exploitation of children and adults.

They also gave Johnson her own set of wheels: a fun-size pink Ford Mustang. Paula Livingston, the director of Give A Wish, said it takes thousands of dollars for the organization to make dreams a reality.
