Mardi Gras 2014: Krewe of Omega, Barkus, & Gumbo Cookoff

Good Evening,

Lee Peck in the KPLC 7 Newsroom with a look at what we are working on for 7 News at Six.

Mardi Gras is in full swing. Our team coverage begins with the Krewe of Omega Parade. KPLC's Monica Grimaldo was there as folks, including a lot of out of towners, lined the streets to catch all the beads and trinkets.

And it was on to the Civic Center for one of the cutest parades of the season – the Krewe of Barkus. KPLC's Haley Rush shows you how costumed pooches and their owners strutted their stuff to be Mardi Gras' top dog.

Also there was no excuse to go home hungry… as more than 50 teams were serving up gumbo. We'll give you a taste of the World Famous Gumbo Cookoff.

And, most folks stuck around for the big Zydeco dance.

The weather cooperated for today's parade, but what about Sunday? Meteorologist Zack Fradella will tell us what to expect for the Children's Parade.

We'll see you tonight at Six for these stories and more. Until then, we're always on at kplctv.com.
