Coushatta Casino officials still looking into cause of fire

Good Evening,

Lee Peck in the KPLC 7 Newsroom with a look at what we are working on for Nightcast.

Officials at the Coushatta Casino and Resort in Kinder continue to work tonight to learn what sparked a fire on the casino floor last night causing a mass evacuation. KPLC's Gerron Jordan was on the scene and will have an update for us tonight.

Plus, a newborn puppy is found in plastic bag on the street in Welsh. KPLC's Monica Grimaldo tells you how an animal rescue group in Jennings is not only nursing the pup to health, but offering a reward for information leading to the person responsible.

And Mardi Gras has definitely returned to Southwest Louisiana. We'll show the Lake Charles Zydeco Mardi Gras Parade and chicken run… along with a wrap of the other events from this weekend.

Also, a big surprise for Calcasieu Parish's Teacher of the Year. Our cameras are rolling when she found out she received the honor. KPLC's Haley Rush has this story.

And, the rain came down this morning and will usher in cooler temperatures. Meteorologist Zack Fradella has your forecast.

We'll see you tonight at ten following the closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympics. Until then, we're always on at kplctv.com.
