SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

The Duck Commander crew is partnering with the Independence Bowl in Shreveport to become its new title sponsor.

Missy Setters, Independence Bowl Chairperson, confirmed the new partnership to KSLA News 12's Shayne Wright.  "Independence Bowl Foundation officials are very excited about a partnership with Duck Commander, the details of which will be announced at a news conference on Wednesday," Setters said.

Local radio host Tim Fletcher first broke the news Sunday morning, citing sources. ESPN has since picked up the story, again citing sources and reporting that Duck Commander Independence Bowl is the new name for the game, part of a 6-year contract for naming rights.

KNOE in West Monroe quotes "a source close to the family" as saying, "We can confirm that Duck Commander is excited about a partnership with the Independence Bowl," and reports that details about the alliance will be announced at a press conference in Shreveport on Wednesday, February 26, at 1:30pm.

Even Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover appears to be chiming in on the news, tweeting, "I guess it's time to break out the big and tall camouflage."

Earlier this month, Alan Robertson announced that the family is now a title sponsor of the NASCAR Sprint Cup race. The April 6 race at Texas Motor Speedway will be known as the Duck Commander 500.

The West Monroe-based Robertson family has built their duck call business into a dynasty that includes the Duck Dynasty reality show on A&E, becoming a household name.

The Independence bowl's previous title sponsor, Advocare, ended a 5-year contract in December, saying they will be taking their sponsorship in another direction.
