RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The man Ridgeland Police believe killed his adoptive mother told investigators he assaulted 91 year old Sue Richardson. Michael Richardson sits behind bars with no bond.

Police say he confessed to being at the scene of the crime, but not to the murder.

Friday Richardson was outraged when he left the courtroom and our cameras caught his offensive behavior. Explosive curse words came out of Michael Richardson's mouth when asked if he brutally killed 91 year old Sue Richardson.

The 35 year old man is charged with murder and is sitting in jail with no bond.

"He was interviewed without any problems from him," said Ridgeland Police Lt. John Neal. "During the interview he did confess to us that he was there on the scene and he did assault Ms. Richardson."

Lt. Neal also revealed Richardson who suffers from a mental condition, and did have incriminating evidence on him when he was picked up Thursday after the elderly woman's body was found.

"There was a weapon that was recovered, added Neal." "We are not going to release any of that information right now because it still in an ongoing investigation. We have sent some stuff to the crime lab to confirm this was the weapon that was used."

Right now a motive is not determined.

"This is a lady who cared for him deeply," said Neal. "She has been taking care of him for his entire 35 year life. So exactly why he would do this to her, we are not sure."

Richardson will have his preliminary hearing Tuesday February 25th.

Sunny and nice for Thanksgiving!!!Sunny and nice for Thanksgiving!!!

The next few days will be rather chilly with temperatures below normal for this time of year!  A warming trend begins this weekend, but the weather still looks great for anything outdoors.  Temperatures will fall rapidly this evening with lows by Thursday morning ranging from the upper 20s north of I-10 to the low 40s at the coast.  The wind may not calm entirely and that might keep frost from becoming widespread north of I-10.
