New sexual assault allegations against Darren Sharper

MIAMI, FL (WVUE)- New sexual assault charges surface against former New Orleans Saints player Darren Sharper. He is now part of an investigation into sexual battery in Miami Beach, according to a police report.

The case allegedly involves women from Georgia, who were visiting Miami for spring break in 2011. It marks the eighth accusation of a sexual crime involving the former Saints star.

The women say they ended up at an apartment with Sharper and other men. The women claim they passed out and when they woke up, they believed they had been sexually assaulted.

However, the police report states no evidence was found that a sexual battery took place.

Meanwhile, Sharper will face several charges in Los Angeles Thursday. He is scheduled to be arraigned at 3:30pm New Orleans time.

During the arraignment, prosecutors are expected to ask the judge to hold sharper on a $10 million bond since he's being investigated in so many other places for essentially the same thing.

The Los Angeles District Attorney says one of the alleged rapes happened in October and the other one last month.

In both cases they say Sharper met the women at the same West Hollywood nightclub.

He invited them to a party, but instead took them to his hotel room where the DA claims he drugged the women with Ambien and morphine.

Investigators say after the women passed out, Sharper raped them.

In Los Angeles he's facing two charges of rape, four counts of furnishing a controlled substance and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

A court filing by the D.A.'s office connects the former Saint to rape or sexual assault investigations there, along with other cases in Tempe, Arizona; Las Vegas, and New Orleans.

Sharper's Los Angeles-based attorney says she's looking forward to the true facts in that case being revealed and expects Sharper to be exonerated.

Sharper played in the NFL from 1997-2010. He was a key player in bringing New Orleans its first Super Bowl during the 2009 season.

Through the rest of today expect skies to remain partly cloudy.  Unfortunately, this does not help our temperatures much as highs will get into the 90s and feels-like temperatures will be in the triple digits.  We do have a slight breeze along and south of the I-10 corridor between 5-10 mph helping to keep air flowing.  Tonight, temperatures will still be warm not dropping out of the mid 70s across southwest Louisiana.
