STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) -

A water tower overflowed on the Georgia Southern campus in Statesboro Wednesday night.

WTOC received a photo from a viewer that was taken from her friend's apartment around 9 p.m.

The water towers are located between Plant Drive and Malecki Drive, near Paulson Stadium.

University officials released a statement Thursday morning on what cause the water tower overflow saying, "When power on campus was lost, the water tower pumps defaulted to the on position which caused an overflow of water from the tower. The water is no longer overflowing. Campus residence halls are serviced from the City of Statesboro and were not affected."
