CSRA closings, delays due to winter weather

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

winter storm warning has been issued for much of the CSRA for Tuesday evening into Thursday morning, causing some hazardous road conditions.

Here is a list of cancellations, delays, and closings due to the weather:

Schools

  • Columbia County schools will be closed Thursday and Friday. Employees, including 12-month personnel, should not report to work.
  • Richmond County schools will be closed Friday, February 14, 2014.  Schools will be back in session for students beginning Tuesday, February 18, 2014. 
  • Edgefield County School District schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
  • McCormick County School District will be closed Thursday and Friday.
  • Bamberg District 1 will be closed Thursday and Friday.
  • Bamberg District 2 will be closed Thursday and Friday.
  • Screven County Schools will be closed Thursday and Friday.
  • Augusta Prep will be closed Wednesday. Winter break was already scheduled for Thursday through Monday, so classes will resume Tuesday, Feb. 18. 
  • Aiken County Public School District schools and offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. All events and adult education are also canceled. 
  • Lincoln County schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Fox Creek High School in North Augusta will be closed Thursday and Friday.
  • Burke County Public Schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. Winter break is scheduled for Friday through Tuesday.  
  • Augusta Christian Schools will be closed Thursday and Friday. 
  • Emanuel County Public Schools will be closed Thursday. 
  • Westminster Schools of Augusta will be closed Thursday and Friday.
  • Jefferson County Schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday due to inclement weather. Friday and Monday were already scheduled as days off, so school will resume Tuesday, Feb. 18. 
  • Allendale County schools  will be closed Thursday and Friday
  • The Bradley Schools will open at 7:30 a.m. Friday
  • Washington County schools will be closed Friday
  • Jenkins County schools will be closed Friday


Colleges and universities
  • Augusta Technical College will be closed Thursday and Friday
  • Georgia Regents University Summerville and Forest Hills campuses will remain closed Friday. Certain parts of the Health Sciences campus will be open Friday. Details here.
  • USC Aiken classes and activities Thursday and Friday are canceled.
  • Aiken Technical College will be closed Thursday and Friday
  • Oconee Fall Line Technical College will be closed Thursday and will re-open Friday on its normal schedule. 
  • Paine College will be closed Thursday and will re-open Friday for normal hours. 
  • East Georgia State College Augusta campus will remain closed Friday. The Swainsboro and Statesboro campuses will resume operations at normal hours Friday.
Daycares
  • World of Discovery Daycare will be closed Friday. 

Government
  • North Augusta Municipal Court has been canceled for Friday. Those scheduled to appear Wednesday will be notified of the new court date.
  • All Augusta Richmond County offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday. Public safety employees and departments responsible for responding to the current emergency conditions should report per their usual schedule.
  • Columbia County offices will be closed Wednesday and Thursday and Friday.
  • City of Aiken government offices will be closed Friday.
  • Grovetown city hall will be closed Thursday.
  • Jefferson County non-essential government offices and services will be closed Friday.

Services
  • Augusta transit services are expected to operate on regular schedule Friday. 
  • Residential recyclables and trash collection for Richmond County customers will be operating on "best efforts" Friday. 
  • The Augusta Landfill will be closed Thursday and will re-open Friday.  
  • Golden Harvest Food Bank will be closed Thursday and Friday


Hospitals/medical services
  • Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center will re-open Friday. 

Events
  • The FPU class at the Banks Mill Campus of Cedar Creek Church has been rescheduled for Sunday night at 5:30 p.m.

Businesses
  • Augusta OB/GYN will be closed Friday
  • The Savannah River Site will be closed Friday for non-essential workers. All oncoming shift (nights) essential personnel are to report to work two hours early on Thursday. Essential personnel shift turnovers on Friday morning will be delayed two hours.
  • Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Beech Island Mill, will be closed Thursday and will re-open at 10 a.m. Friday.
