BATON ROUGE – The LSU gymnastics team stayed put at No. 3 in the national rankings and just a mere four one-thousandths of a point behind Oklahoma for No. 2 in the standings according to the newest national rankings released Monday by GymInfo.
LSU (5-1) went on the road to score a 197.225 in a victory at Arkansas on Friday, and the Tigers followed up with a 197.650 in a big win at Oklahoma on Sunday.
LSU increased its season average from a 197.225 to a 197.296, and the Tigers nearly jumped Oklahoma in the rankings. The Sooners used a 197.325 team score in the loss to LSU to increase their average to a 197.300 and remain second nationally.
Florida is ranked No. 1 with a 197.365 team average.
In the event standings, LSU is ranked No. 2 on three events: vault (49.467 average), beam (49.200 average) and floor (49.425 average). The Tigers moved up one spot to No. 6 on bars with a 49.204 season average.
Rheagan Courville, Jessie Jordan and Kaleigh Dickson are ranked sixth, seventh and 17th, respectively, in the all-around national standings.
In the vault rankings, Sarie Morrison leads the way at No. 3 nationally with a 9.921 average after posting a season-high 9.975 at Oklahoma. Courville is No. 11 with a 9.90 average. Britney Ranzy is No. 18 with a 9.885 average, and Jordan is No. 24 with a 9.879 average.
Morrison ranks fourth on bars with a 9.908 average.
Jordan is No. 2 nationally on beam with a 9.90 average, and Courville is 16th at 9.854.
Lloimincia Hall is No. 8 on floor with a 9.917 average, while Courville is 11th at 9.90 and Jessica Savona is 16th with a 9.887 average.
Third-ranked LSU will travel to Fort Worth, Texas for the Metroplex Challenge on Saturday. The Tigers will face Oklahoma, No. 17 Arizona and Kentucky, and the meet will begin at 7 p.m. CT inside the Fort Worth Convention Center.
