USDA adds multiple East Texas stores to list involved in beef recall

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

The United States Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service has added multiple East Texas grocery stores to a list that are selling beef that could contain E. coli.

The updated list was released Friday and includes Brookshire Food stores across the states of Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana. Two more chains of stores added to the list are all Kroger and Walmart stores in the state of Texas.

A hand full of individual Super 1 Foods stores were also added to the list and include the following locations. 2301 W. Loop 281 in Longview, 602 Jefferson Park in Mt. Pleasant, 2610 Richmond Rd. in Texarkana, and 3828 Troup Highway in Tyler. Another store added to the list is Fresh by Brookshires located at 6991 Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler.

The recall stems from PFP Enterprises in Fort Worth, who is recalling over 15,000 pounds of beef products because they could contain E. coli.

The following products are subject to FSIS recall:

  • 10.5-lb. boxes of Beef Outside Skirt Steak, with a pack date of “12/13/13”
  • 20-lb. boxes of Studio Movie Grill Beef Tenderloin Sliced, with a pack date of “12/05/13”
  • 15-lb. boxes of Preseasoned Beef for Fajita, with a use by date of “1/13/14”
  • 40-lb. boxes of Southwest Style Beef Skirts, with a pack date of “12/5/13”
  • 20-lb. boxes of Patterson Food Processors Beef Skirt Seasoned, with a pack date of “12/9/13”
  • 10-lb. boxes of Preseasoned Beef for Fajitas, with a pack date of “12/9/2013”
  • 40-lb. boxes of Preseasoned Beef for Fajitas w/Binder, with a pack date of “12/9/2013”
  • 12-lb. boxes of Seasoned Beef for Fajitas, containing 6 2-lb. packs, with a use by date of “1/15/14”
  • 12-lb. boxes of Mexican Style Beef for Fajita, containing 6 2-lb. packs, with a use by date of “1/11/14”

    Two people were killed in a car crash this evening shortly after 8 p.m. according to Master Trooper Brooks David, with Louisiana State Police Troop I. The crash happened on Highway 91 near Highway 100. One person died at the scene and the other was taken to a hospital where they died shortly after arrival, David said.
