LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

The thermometer read 25 degrees Fahrenheit at the Salvation Army in Lake Charles Tuesday afternoon.

Salvation Army officials say all 30 beds were full, but they had overflow cots ready in case more  people came in looking for shelter.

The center will also serve two meals a day and is seeking donations, such as warm clothing, towels and linens or monetary donations.
