LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

The sirens heard around Lake Charles at 9:15 p.m. Sunday were a security alarm that went off at the National Guard Armory, city police said.

Spokesman Larry Moss said officers were called to the armory in 1100 block of Third Avenue.

"The volume and duration of this audible alarm was of level that it could be heard for several miles," Moss said in an news release. "The alarm has been reset, officers have checked the area and all appears secure."

According to numerous KPLC viewers, the hi-low tone could be heard throughout Lake Charles.
