WELSH, LA (KPLC) -

Exit 54 on Interstate 10 was closed for a few hours Tuesday as crews worked to unload a stalled 18-wheeler that was carrying hazardous materials.

Hazmat crews, fire trucks, Welsh Police Department and state police responded to the scene.

Sgt. James Anderson, spokesman for Troop D, said the material was formaldehyde.

A FedEx truck was opened and inspected before the exit was reopened.
