Authorities on scene of possible dog attack in Lake Charles

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

Authorities are on the scene of a possible dog attack in the area of Main Street and Avenue J.

Animal Control is at the location and looking for the animal or animals involved and authorities have blocked off the area.

An ambulance was called to the scene and has left the area.

    Lake Charles police officers are searching for a man whom they say ran after crashing his vehicle into a ditch on Henderson Bayou Road. Lt. Kevin Kirkum said the crash was a single-vehicle accident. Henderson Bayou Road runs along the south side of Prien Lake Park. A witness said the man was driving erratically, driving onto the sidewalks at the park before crossing the bridge over the bayou and crashing the vehicle.

    The Louisiana Supreme Court has stayed the first-degree murder trial of Kevin Daigle. Daigle was to go to trial on April 30. He has a hearing before the Supreme Court on May 1. Daigle is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of State Trooper Steven Vincent during a traffic stop in 2015. The state is seeking the death penalty.
