Cold temperatures not affecting school, 12th Night celebrations

Happy Monday morning to you!  Britney Glaser here with a look at what's in store on today's Sunrise:

*Today's highs will only reach the 30s and the wind chill is feeling much colder as an Arctic blast hits Southwest Louisiana.  Meteorologist Ben Terry lets us know if we will be dealing with ice or dangerous road conditions on your Monday morning commute.

*Schools are back in session after the Christmas break.  Lots of parents have asked whether or not children will be heading to school today in the cold weather and the answer from school officials is yes.  Beauregard Parish schools, however, have a scheduled teacher in-service day.

*It's time to let the good times roll!  Today marks Epiphany, also known as 12th Night.  It's the day Christians celebrate the visit of the three wise men to baby Jesus.  We'll talk about the significance of the day and what's in store at the Lake Charles Civic Center for tonight's kick-off to the Mardi Gras season.

*Here's a look at some other events we'll tell you about today: the Pediatric Clinic at Moss Memorial Health Clinic is set to re-open this morning.  Find out the range of services they will be offering.  We will also detail today's sign-up for the K.I.S.S. Project helping local women shed 20+ pounds for free with the help of professionals.

*We will be opening up the Sunrise Pet Shop at 6:20 this morning introducing you to a furry friend in need of a new home.  You'll also hear about steps you need to take in this extreme cold to keep your cat or dog healthy and warm.

Make it a Sunrise day!
