Police: Juvenile apprehended for stealing & crashing Sulphur City Truck

Good Evening,

Lee Peck in the KPLC 7 Newsroom on this Saturday night. We missed you guys at Six due to NFL Wildcard Football, but here's a look at what we are working on for Nightcast.

Sulphur Police say a 14-year-old boy is responsible for stealing and crashing a City of Sulphur water truck. We'll have the details.

Plus, a new year means new gun laws. Local gun owners weigh in while attending this weekend's gun show at the Lake Charles Civic Center. KPLC's Haley Rush has this story.

Also it usually targets adults, but the Anime Sci-Fi convention known as CyPhaCon now has a section catered to children. KPLC's Erica Bivens was at the Children's Museum where the group was educating and entertaining kids.

And get set for some COLD weather as a powerful arctic air mass moves into the area. While temperatures will drop well into the middle 20s on Sunday night, Monday night will bring the harshest cold to SWLA. Meteorologist Ben Terry is in tonight with your full forecast.

We'll see you tonight at Ten for all these stories and more. Until then, we're always on at kplctv.com.

Afternoon Storms continue todayAfternoon Storms continue today

For the rest of the day, there will be more storms and showers that pop up in the afternoon. This is the new normal with the heat during the afternoon, and the extra moisture in the air. Not everyone will see rain, but if you are caught under one of these showers, you will likely see some heavy rainfall at times. Temperatures will still be hot today, especially where there is no rain. Highs will be in the lower 90s. Tonight, the rain should come to an end.
