WESTLAKE, LA (KPLC) -

Axiall on Thursday issued a report about the Dec. 20 incident at its chemical plant in Westlake.

The seven-day letter, which can be read HERE, states that three chemicals were released. They are: dichloroethane, vinyl chloride and hydrochloric acid.

The report also states that "on-site and off-site ambient air monitors did not detect the presence of any of the chemicals off-site."

A full report is expected in the coming weeks, after Axiall completes its investigation.

The Axiall Corporation said the fire began at 1:41 p.m. "in the PHH vinyl chloride manufacturing area" of the plant. The fire was put out by 2:38 p.m., and Axiall said no plant personnel were injured.

Smoke covered the area for an hour, and more than 20 drivers were treated at local hospitals after complaining of respiratory problems.

KPLC will have more on later editions.
