The 2013 AdvoCare V100 Bowl between Arizona and Boston College looked to be a battle between the nation's top two leading rushers heading into the game, but Arizona found great offensive balance on the way to a 42-19 victory.

Arizona's six touchdowns tied a bowl record, which has been accomplished seven times, the most recent prior occasion was Ohio in the 2012 AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl. The Wildcats set a bowl record with 28 first downs, while gaining 529 yard of total offense – the third-most in bowl history.

"I'm really proud of our football team – our seniors especially," Arizona head coach Rich Rodriguez said. "The guys had great preparation on campus and we were really focused when we came down here.

"I think they enjoyed this week, but at the same time, I think they knew the reason we came down here was to win a ball game. I thought our staff did a really nice job, as they've always done, and it was a nice win for our program."

Junior running back Ka'Deem Carey had an outstanding day on the ground for Arizona (8-5), amassing 169 yards and two touchdowns.

The Wildcats senior quarterback, B. J. Denker, epitomized the Wildcats' balance on offense, going 17-24 on passes for 275 yards and two touchdowns, to go along with 51 yards rushing and another score. Denker was named the Offensive Player of the Game.

Arizona's freshman receiver Nate Phillips put on a record-setting performance, catching nine passes for 193 yards, setting a bowl record for most receiving yards in a game, besting the previous record of 191 set by Sidney Rice of South Carolina in 2005 against Missouri.

The Wildcat defense did a good job of holding the Boston College (7-6) offense in check, particularly 2013 Doak Walker Award winner Andre Williams, who was held to 75 yards on 26 carries for an average of 2.9 per carry. He did get into the end zone in the fourth quarter.

"As I told the team, I'm very proud of our seniors," Boston College head coach Steve Addazio said. "I'm proud of the way they responded all year, I'm proud of what they accomplished. I won't let this game get in the way of that ever.

"The next step is not getting to a bowl game, the next step is winning a bowl game, competing for conference championships, and that's my responsibility to make sure that happens."

Arizona forced Boston College into two interceptions and held the Eagles to 351 yards of total offense.

In the first meeting between the two teams, Arizona secured its second consecutive bowl win.
